Theater suspends operations following quake
Activities at the Anayansi Theater, in the Atlapa Convention Center, have been temporarily suspended following assessments of the site after the earthquake on Friday, October 9.
The Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) reported that the decision was made following inspections carried out by the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) after the earthquake.
The ATP indicated that, in accordance with the technical recommendations of Sinaproc, adjustments will be made to the Anayansi Theater.
“As a preventative measure and to ensure the safety of attendees and staff, activities in this space will be temporarily suspended while the work is carried out,” said the entity.
The ATP emphasized that the measure is limited exclusively to the Anayansi Theater and does not represent a general closure of the venue, so the rest of the Atlapa Convention Center continues to operate and maintains the development of its activities in the other enabled spaces.
The entity said that it is in communication with producers and organizers who have events scheduled at the Anayansi Theater, in order to coordinate follow-up actions.
