Power outage affects 750,000 in Panama

An event in the National Interconnected System (SIN), caused by the loss of 600 megawatts (MW) of generation at the Gatun Generator, caused an interruption of the electricity supply that left more than 375,000 customers without service.

The outage, which occurred at 10:35 pm on Saturday, September 12, affected various sectors of the provinces of Panama, Panama West, and Coclé, with the service interruption lasting approximately 23 minutes until its restoration at 10:58 pm.
